[00:00] We're Boys Club, and you're listening to the official Crypto the Game companion podcast, brought to you by Lens. For 10 days only, we'll be hitting on the biggest moments, juiciest gossip, and hottest takes from season two, Anon Island. Smash the subscribe. I don't know. It doesn't feel right. Perfect. No notes. Welcome to day nine of Crypto the Game. For folks who are new here, Crypto the Game is a massive internet survivor game where [00:30] series of challenges over a series of days and the last person standing wins the pot of 80 ETH. This is the penultimate day of the challenge. We have just had our last extremely stressful elimination vote. I have fallen comrade Jay here on the show with me tonight standing in as co-host for Natasha. Jay works at NETA. [00:54] Privy, [00:55] Welcome to the show, Jay. [00:56] Hey, thanks for having me. [00:58] Tell us about Privy. Tell us about you. [01:00] Privy is an authentication library to onboard your users to [01:04] Web3 and Crypt of the Game is actually built with Privy. Jay and I have been in the trenches together for the past week and a half. We have been in the trenches indeed. Yeah, huge cult tonight. 74 people voted out [01:17] 42 people remain and the finale is tomorrow. So they're all going to the finale. [01:21] It's interesting that there's zero anonymous [01:24] players remaining because all the 42 people that remain have at some point connected a Twitter account. [01:29] So we'll see if that's a winning narrative.

1:31-3:04

[01:31] Crazy night. Okay. So on tonight's show, we're going to talk to Matthias, who won the Uniswap immunity challenge today. If you're going to win an immunity challenge, today was the day to do it. Today was it. It was it. And he has a really interesting story. He's a puzzle guy. So this is the role he was born to play. Oh, that's amazing. So we're going to talk to him about how it went down. We're going to go into some gossip and talk about some posts of the day. First, an important message. So tomorrow's episode is going to be a very special one. [02:01] to make their case. [02:02] to canvas for your vote, do a bit of campaigning. So the ask is to please send us, Boys Club, a 30-second or less [02:12] Hard rule in the 30 seconds or less. [02:15] coherent and interesting voice memo to hi at boysclub.vip with the subject line finalist. And we may include it on the pod tomorrow, which we will be releasing before the vote. So this is your moment. If you're a finalist. [02:28] Make your case. [02:29] on the pod. And then before we get into it, big thank you to our partners for this series, Lens. We love Lens. You can follow us and Crypto the Game on Lens. You can follow Jay Hins on Lens at Jay Hins and mint your Lens profile at Lens at XYZ. And let's get on with the show. [02:51] Okay, we have a special interview, Mateus, who solved today's immunity challenge, a very tricky challenge, solved it very quickly. Welcome to the show.

3:04-4:36

[03:04] And thank you. Thanks for having me. Okay. So today, day nine, the immunity challenge was sponsored by Uniswap. [03:12] It was a puzzle. [03:14] If there's any day to win immunity, this is the day to do it. So congratulations and a huge win for you today. So excited to hear about it and hear how you cracked the code. [03:25] Yeah, well, thanks so much. It's one of the things I love to do with puzzles. So I'm glad like day nine was a puzzle. I was kind of prepared for it. I was kind of hoping for it. [03:35] Just one note on that. I looked at your Twitter and you have the word puzzle in your Twitter bio. Is this part of your real life persona? Yeah, I do treasure hunts. I build puzzles. I solve puzzles. Okay. You're the man for the job today. Yeah, well suited for the task. Yeah, yeah. I'm glad it came in handy at last. [03:56] Did you play season one? No. No. Okay. So I just want to dig in a little bit more on the puzzle thing. What do you mean when you say you do puzzles and you build puzzles? What does that mean? [04:06] Well, there's a lot of crypto puzzles, a lot of treasure hunts. They go on inside projects, outside of projects. [04:15] I just try and solve everything I could find. I've gathered a group of people around me to [04:20] like shoot stuff at each other like, oh, did you see this one? Did you see that one? [04:26] There's insane people in this space. I'm so happy to have met them. Yeah, and we just go at it and we try to solve stuff. Sometimes it works, sometimes it clicks like it did today.

4:36-6:08

[04:36] And sometimes you're like going into a circle and getting absolutely nowhere. [04:41] only for someone else to solve it instantly. [04:44] This is a whole subculture I had no idea about. And these puzzles that you're solving, are they like for money or is it just for fun? [04:53] Sometimes they have money involved, yeah. Cool. That's the best ones. [04:57] So it's heavy competition as well. [04:59] Puzzle core. You're learning about it here first. Okay, so let's talk about today's puzzle. [05:06] The first clue I understand was about the Uniswap white [05:11] paper. Well, just you take it away. Talk us through it. [05:14] Um, well, yeah, the emoji say white paper version one with a little comment icon on it as well. [05:21] So you have to find the right version of the version 1 white vapor of Gimishwap. [05:26] And if you enable comments, you'll see a bunch of old comments. Scroll down and you see a new comment by cpg. [05:33] which has four steps in it. [05:35] Pandas. [05:36] Kind of the whole puzzle. There's one more step after it, but that's where you go. And it gives you the Unisoc contract. Unisoc conflict address. [05:46] It gives you a little bit of text with missing letters. [05:49] You have to figure out the missing letters. The missing letters say, "Hint on token page." [05:55] So you got to find the token page. [05:57] for the Yulisox on Yuliswap. [05:59] And there it says which kind of encryption you have to use for the rest of the hint in the comments. [06:06] It's yeah, it's kind of nuts.

6:08-7:41

[06:08] And once you crack that, you have [06:11] another site you have to visit, which is text. [06:14] is/7K09. [06:17] And that's the final puzzle. You'll get a [06:20] a bunch of letters in like a strange formatting. [06:23] and a world with I can [06:25] on top of that, so you had to read it in a spiral. [06:28] And that gives you the final answer, CFFM. [06:31] Wow. [06:33] Wow. And then what, how long did it take you to solve? [06:37] It was like 30 minutes. [06:39] Okay. So we're dealing with a pro level puzzler. It's not always. Wow. That's incredible. And did you like, as you were going through it, I feel my experience, I'm not a big puzzler. Crypto, the game gets me puzzling. I think it's super fun. I wish I did it more. It feels like a skill, a muscle that you get better at. But oftentimes I find that you go, you can go down a rabbit hole [07:04] That is completely wrong. And so I'm curious as you were going through the steps and you were working your way, were you thinking I'm on the right track like this? I'm feeling close to this. Or were you like, ooh, nervous about whether you were making the right steps? [07:18] Well, the first step was obvious, like the white vapor, but there are like a couple of versions of... [07:23] the v1 white paper for some reason [07:26] So it was going through a white paper where it was actually [07:29] Like nothing in there, just a regular white paper. Okay. So I realized I had to find one with comments. And once you find that, it clicks and it works. Let me stop you there. [07:38] Because how did you know that you needed to find one with comments?

7:41-9:11

[07:41] that is to me is a leap the little text emoji it's like the comments emoji okay okay [07:49] Okay. Yeah. [07:50] Okay. [07:51] Fair. Totally fair. We accept that. We accept that. It makes sense, right? Yeah, it does. I mean, it makes hindsight is 2020 with these puzzles. In the moment, I wouldn't have been able to. [08:03] I didn't solve it. So then was there a text that you then entered into the crypto of the game.com like field? [08:09] Yeah, the final result you resolve by doing a spiral. [08:13] Yeah. OK. And what was the final-- it was a saying? The CFMM final. [08:19] Okay. There it is. Which seemed like kind of a weird answer to me. So I was actually kind of stuck on the last step, like how can I make some sense of this? [08:29] Like the final part was obvious. [08:31] But the rest, I was hoping like maybe there had to be a shift or some sense of logic in there. [08:37] Then I just tried it and it worked. [08:39] Wow. Were you so juiced up? [08:42] Yeah. You wouldn't even believe it. It's been a crazy day, especially about this. I've had quite a day. [08:52] Um, [08:53] It's a bit of a long story, but like 30 minutes before this whole thing started today, [08:58] We got the news that, well, my wife and I have been trying to see if it's possible to buy my childhood home back from my parents. [09:05] And it's been a bit of a long shot and we got the call that it might just be able to get it to work.

9:11-10:41

[09:11] Wow. Congratulations. Emotions all over the place. Big emotional day. Red letter day for Matias. Yeah. So when I say crazy day, it's been a crazy day. [09:23] Yeah, that's amazing. I love to hear it. That's so great. Okay, well, with that, I want to know, [09:29] You're in the finale. [09:30] Goes down to voting. [09:32] Would love to hear from you just a little bit why you want to win. [09:37] Maybe what you would do with the money. Also don't have to share that if you don't feel like it, but would love to just give you a platform to convince people to cast their vote for you. [09:47] Well, okay. Yeah, like I said earlier, I'm not the most well-spoken guy out there, so I don't have a great... [09:55] epic story to tell, except like I'm just a guy and I've been playing this [10:00] like just regular people would. I've not been in any... [10:03] crazy shadowy cabal kind of stuff. [10:06] I made the meme about it, like David and Goliath. I'm sure you saw that one. That was a great one. It was great. [10:14] yeah that's that's the way i can tell stories is by doing it visually [10:18] I'm a painter and illustrator, so [10:21] Those kind of things are the way I would tell the story. [10:26] i'm a regular guy going up against the big shadowy [10:30] Big wallet, whales, [10:32] King, Wilwood, whoever that is. [10:35] I'm not in any groups, I'm just playing with [10:39] Like a couple of orange guys left.

10:42-12:13

[10:42] I hope to make it into the final. [10:44] Probably not, but you know how it goes. [10:48] Yeah, let's just see where it ends up. That was a really charming and convincing case for me personally. We love to see a regular guy. [10:58] Puzzle lover. [11:00] And artists take it home. So I loved that. Thank you so much. [11:06] Thank you. Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed. Thanks for coming on. Congratulations again on such a big day in many ways for you. And good luck going into tomorrow. [11:17] Thank you. Thank you. Okay, take care. [11:23] We're in the gossip section of the podcast. Jay, you took a vote [11:29] Early on. [11:30] I think it was four minutes in, maybe less. Not a great feeling to see your name come up there. You don't want to encourage other people to vote for you. But yeah, I think it was four minutes. That might be a new record. It was tough to see it. When I saw you go up, I was like, man, rest in power. [11:47] You know, I really didn't know what had happened until someone sent me [11:52] King Wilbert's new list and [11:55] Then I realized that there was some fake news out there. There was some fake news out there. So Jay was accused of being a jury whale. [12:05] Meaning [12:06] you're holding a lot of [12:09] tokens that could potentially sway the vote tomorrow.

12:13-13:44

[12:13] Allegedly. This is not true. I think if anyone knows me in real life, they know I'm a Survivor super fan. So I'm a game purist. [12:22] I vote every night. I am holding on to all of my [12:25] you know, NFTs from the past. I have one vote for the finale. [12:30] That's it. I would never be a whale. A game purist. Yeah. I love that you guys are doing a little... [12:35] Final travel council tomorrow. I think it's a great homage to Survivor. [12:40] So I'm definitely not a jury whale. I love the game too much. And I think [12:44] having one vote is a great game theory metric. [12:48] Any idea of how they could have come to that conclusion? [12:51] That's a great question. The first one I thought of was maybe they think I'm too funny on Twitter. I'm too powerful. They're scared of your power. The second one was there was a privy cabal that was listed. [13:03] Okay. The second or third day, they basically put anyone who works in crypto together and [13:09] we were named as a little privy cabal. [13:11] Maybe they were mad that I didn't get out. [13:13] when the Privy Cabal was listed, I didn't [13:15] people didn't listen to their list. Honestly, I hope that this is the last time we're talking about Wilbert on this podcast. I hope so, too. It's exhausting. It's a little cringe. It was like a joke that was funny in the first five minutes. And then now you're kind of like, it's not funny anymore. [13:30] I agree. Let's move on. [13:32] The second story I want to talk to you about tonight, I don't know if you're in any of these chats today, but there was a huge rift between players. Oh, yeah. Around this idea of splitting the pot.

13:45-15:16

[13:45] for not splitting the pot. So splitting the pot meaning [13:48] I still have an active player token. I'm still playing the game. And I'm going to try and rally a bunch of votes for me and anyone who votes for me. [14:01] there'll be some sort of distribution for those people. A dividend. A dividend on my prize money. Were you in any of these chats? [14:09] I saw a couple of them and I was in the not split the pot. At one point they were in the same chat arguing and this is interesting because [14:19] This is something people try to do last year. [14:21] And I feel like every year there's the same things that are happening. I just said year, but I meant season. That's how much time is warped. Totally. You're not the first person who's done that. Pretty much anyone who's come on the pod has called it last year. It feels like a year, honestly. So it checks out. So as a survivor... [14:39] purist as a game purist where to use it on splitting the pot versus not splitting the pot [14:43] Yeah, well, I mean, anti splitting the pot. I think on the real game of Survivor, there is a contract you have to sign that says you cannot split the pot. [14:52] Okay. [14:52] You know, you just agree to vote for someone and then split the pot, probably against the CBS rules. [14:58] I don't play crypto the game as an investment. I don't want to make like 0.3 ETH on my 0.1 ETH. [15:03] I've already been point one ETH entertained and then some. So I think the point is... [15:09] to give someone some life-changing... [15:12] Ethan and just have fun while doing it. It's just not that

15:16-16:50

[15:16] serious splitting the pot feels very, it feels like they're trying a little too hard. [15:22] I totally agree. I saw, for the record, I am with you. I'm anti-Split the Pot. I saw someone... [15:28] post something today that was like a really, really complicated mechanism to [15:33] distribute the money back to people. And then I saw another one that was like about donating the pot back to crypto the game season three. So like a double or nothing situation. Double give it to the next person. Exactly. Exactly. And so I'm just like winner takes all just go have fun. Yeah. And [15:51] you know buy some nfts get a lambo whatever you want to do with it feel fair love and war and [15:57] the game. Totally. Last night we had someone on who said that they wanted to buy a cyber truck with their winnings and I was just like [16:03] It couldn't be me, but if that's your truth, then beautiful. [16:09] Okay, this last story here is a big oof moment. First of all, just want to give a shout out to the Crypto the Game team, the secondary marketplace. [16:20] has been [16:21] First of all, so well done. And it's been so incredible. It's been a story in and of itself. I think maybe we'll do a separate podcast about it and about how it's really incredible to watch. But on the secondary NFT marketplace, someone... [16:36] I think right before the vote started, someone bought a player token tonight for two ETH. [16:42] And that's about six grand. [16:44] Yeah. For... [16:45] for the casual crypto listener. And for context, we all bought it as...

16:50-18:24

[16:50] Normal players, we all bought in for 0.1 ETH, which was, I think, at the time, like $300 when we were doing that. Yeah, a couple hundred bucks. But the price on active player tokens as the... [16:59] Ply has been constrained. [17:01] and people have been voted out, it's been rising, not surprisingly. It's just a classic economic supply and demand. Classic economics. And so someone bought this token and then 10 minutes later... [17:13] They were voted out. Did they get to vote with the NFT? Well, presumably they would have gotten to cast a vote, yeah, but... [17:21] But still, it wouldn't have been better. [17:23] still and to me that's honestly kind of like gambling behavior yeah a little bit i i could see the argument that even with the buying a couple of nfts that you have to you know to spend money to make money maybe spending 6k to [17:38] when [17:39] 250k would make sense, but that is quite a gamble. I think we all know those people who [17:45] Either they have ETH to throw around, [17:48] or they really should not be, they should not be spending that good money on a gamble. [17:55] oh man okay great any any hack awesome from your side from the day [18:00] Yeah, I would just say one of the things that happened to me today was a suicide pact. Someone messaged me and said that if... [18:08] They got a vote. [18:10] that they were going to vote me out. And I said, I'm not going to vote for you. And they said, [18:14] Too bad. We're in a pact. Wait, this is a non-consensual pact. Yeah, I was not in a pact. I was not voting for them. Walk me through how this is going to work. So if they...

18:25-20:12

[18:25] caught a vote yeah [18:26] They were going to vote [18:28] for you, but why would voting for you [18:31] have any impact over whether or not they were going to get a vote. [18:34] They thought you wielded some power. [18:36] No clue why they would think that that would do anything. [18:40] Because at that point, they're already going home. I guess they're just... [18:42] They're just deciding that they're they're just deciding that I voted for them. [18:46] For the record, I didn't vote for that person. [18:48] I see. So you did something in one of these telegram chats that they interpreted as aggressive behavior. It's even more... [18:55] Weird than that, there is a cabal leader who told them that I was targeting them. [19:01] You're catching some misinformation, Jay. [19:04] I don't know what I need to do to correct this narrative. But I'm really here to just make friends and send memes and have fun. It's been it's been wild. The cabals have been cabaling. [19:19] And I've not been the leader of any, but I've [19:23] uh, [19:24] I've-- [19:24] Yeah, I've been hit. [19:25] Man, we hate that. For the record, I think you're a perfectly nice person. I would, I, [19:30] I wouldn't have voted for you. [19:36] Let's get into post of the day here. This is honestly one of my favorites of the season. [19:43] from @josephbender. [19:45] still not sure how I survived last night. And it's the meme format. That's, you know, two people fighting. And then there's like a person in the background, like hitting a bong. And it says like the two people fighting Earth King, Wilbur, Cabal and the foundation. And then the person hitting the bong, it says me deleting my name from hit list. And this was exactly the energy of last night. It's that like there was these feuding telegrams, people were going at it. And then

20:12-21:23

[20:12] this person just found their way to some google sheet that had a hit list on it and deleted their name so honestly [20:18] Kudos. [20:19] Yeah, I think he's still in it, too. [20:21] Oh my God. Yeah. He's playing four dimensional chess here. And then this second one here, I love on hey.xyz.com. [20:29] This is from Matthijs, who... [20:32] was our guest on the podcast tonight. It's a, I don't know, Roman, I think it's a David and Goliath theme. And David is like sort of in a, uh, [20:41] Renaissance painting style and the David figure is wearing a shirt that says anti-cabal cabal club and then is holding a head that has Wilbert Schmilbert on it written on it a severed head whoever makes that t-shirt is going to sell out [20:58] Totally. Totally. So link and bio for any drop shippers out there, this is your moment. Anti cabal cabal club t-shirts, uh, [21:06] And that's it for tonight's show. Thank you so much for coming on, Jay. [21:09] Yeah, thanks for having me. Where can people find you? They can find me on Twitter, on Warp, on Lens. Everything is at Jay Hines on Telegram. Although please don't add me to any more Telegram chats. [21:22] Perfect. Okay.
